Thank you again for your understanding,

Miss Christie :)

Woodrow - Day One

Woodrow - Day Two

Roman Shields

The Roman shields that the children produced for their homework were fantastic! They had a great time practising Roman battle formations with their shields.

Ancient Egyptian Day!

We had an absolutely brilliant Ancient Egyptian Day that was paid for by the TGMS REACH fund. The children were able to take part in activities such as Hieroglyphic writing on Papyrus, Egyptian board games like senet and mancala, creating their own cities and an artefact investigation. From our pupil voice survey on the event, 98% of pupils would recommend Egyptian Day to other TGMS pupils and also rated it highly for how well it linked to what was learnt in our history lessons.

Science

We have definitely been very busy in Science so far this year, from making circuits to egg experiments and disintegrating gingerbread men! The children have been really challenging themselves to work scientifically, as shown by their amazing investigations and growing knowledge. Now, we’re moving on to states of matter with more exciting investigations to follow!

Environmental Project

For our environmental project, the Year 4 children decided to encourage invertebrates into the environmental area by growing insect-friendly plants into tyres. Later this year, we are going to be observing the plants and classifying the invertebrates that have been attracted to the area.

PE

At TGMS, we are so lucky that we can try such a wide variety of sports. So far this year, we have done units of: roundnet, ultimate frisbee, pop lacrosse, benchball/dodgeball, yoga and fitness & circuits. That’s not to mention our Year 4 football match against a local primary school that we won!

Christmas

We had a super fun day this year at Christmas, with games, music and a year group lunch!

VR Day

VR Day was a big hit amongst the Year 4 pupils (and teachers too!). They explored The Great Pyramid of Giza as a part of our cross-curricular learning and had a 360 view from inside the Tomb of Nefertiti.

The Ashmolean Museum

The Ashmolean Museum was a fantastic trip where the children were able to consolidate their knowledge about Ancient Egypt. They took part in a workshop where they got to handle authentic Ancient Egyptian artefacts and even see a real sarcophagus! Also, a big shout out to our incredible parent volunteers who allowed our trip to run so smoothly.
