Head's Welcome

Delivering an unmissable education at the heart of the community: we support every child to obtain the skills, knowledge and mindset to become autonomous learners, equipped with self-belief and resilience for their future.

The Warmest of Welcomes to Tylers Green Middle School.

My name is Sam Isaacs, TGMS Headteacher. I often say that TGMS is an unmissable place to grow up, not because of any single programme or initiative, but because of the way our whole community comes together to give every child the chance to thrive. We are a school rooted in high expectations, inclusive values and a simple belief: that every pupil who walks through our doors can achieve remarkable things, both academically and personally.

TGMS is a place where children achieve exceptionally well. Our KS2 outcomes remain consistently above national averages, particularly in reading and maths, with many pupils reaching the highest standards. But what I am most proud of is how they achieve: through well-sequenced teaching, a rich curriculum and the habits of curiosity, independence, resilience and aspiration that stay with them long after they leave us. After all, as is our motto, Be yourself, be anything, we are the future.

Alongside this academic strength sits something that visitors comment on instantly — the warmth, character and emotional intelligence of our pupils. In April 2025, our personal development and well-being provision was described by Ofsted as “rarely seen delivered so coherently, meaningfully and inclusively,” and those who spend time with our children quickly understand why. They are confident, articulate, compassionate and ready to make a positive contribution to their community.

As our community has evolved, so too has our school. TGMS now serves one of the most diverse intakes in the local area, with pupils from a broad range of backgrounds, cultures and life experiences. This diversity enriches our school and strengthens the moral purpose behind our work. It also demands thoughtful leadership, intelligent curriculum design and a strong culture of inclusion, all of which sit at the heart of our approach. These were recognised in our 2025 Ofsted inspection, where the school was described as having a “strong moral core” and “the systems, staff and culture to continue improving.”

I am proud of the progress the school has made, but even prouder of the values we live by every day. TGMS is an ambitious school — not in a competitive sense, but in the belief that every child deserves the very best. We are open about our strengths, honest about our areas for improvement, and focused on continually getting better. Our next steps are clear: to keep strengthening curriculum implementation, secure even greater consistency in writing, and deepen the attentional and learning habits that help pupils to flourish.

But most importantly, TGMS is a school where children feel known, valued and understood. Our attendance is consistently in the top 15% nationally, our culture is calm and respectful, and our pupils treat one another with genuine kindness. Parents often tell us that their children love coming to school, and for me, that is the highest compliment.

It is a privilege to lead this exceptional community. Whether you are a current family, a prospective parent, or simply someone interested in our work, I hope this website gives you a sense of who we are and what we stand for. TGMS is a school with purpose, heart and ambition, and I look forward to welcoming you through our doors.
